Heavenly weekend in the Cotswold's
Last weekend I was lucky enough to get a belated Valentines break away to the Cotswolds, staying at the Rectory Hotel. I love this hotel with it's beautiful Georgian architecture and yet relaxed interiors. The food is fabulous, in fact the evening meal at their restaurant or in the village Potting Shed Pub, which they also own, is probably one of the main attractions. It's a beautiful place with stunning gardens.
Here's a few snaps of what I consider to be the best rooms, Crickley I liked this cosy room a lot.

Cleeve |
I think my favourite room must be Cleeve though, given its huge windows and the shear amount of light. This isn't one of the more expensive rooms either, so it's quite justifiable for a night away as a treat. One of the lovely touches is that when you arrive in your room they have a Roberts radio playing softly in the background and so you're immediately at ease. It made me want to put Roberts radio's in each of my guest bedrooms at home. Of course I've had to take a rain check on that idea, as I don't run a guesthouse (at least not yet) and there are plenty of other things that I need to do before I can stretch to such luxuries.
Whilst I was in the Costwold's I took the opportunity to make another trip to Tetbury, my absolute favourite place for hunting for antiques. I could literally spend a whole day just wondering round and absorbing all of the beauty that are the Amy Perry and Anne Fowler antiques shops. The lovely painted floorboards in Anne Fowler have really inspired me too, I must get mine done as soon as possible. I'm intent on adding character back in to my house, as so much seems to have been lost when it was extended by the previous owners.
Anyway, I came away with some wonderful treats for our my abode. I have been hankering after some old antique glass domes, to fill with curiosities, like taxidermy of something of that ilk. Not only did I manage to find two of these, but I also found a stunning light plaster Bishop to put in one of them.
He's so unusual and I'm completely smitten. Josephine Ryan has got a lot to answer for in this regard as her home contains many of these type of figures and it's left me obsessed by them. See below for some pictures of Josephine Ryan interiors, most of them don't have figures in of course, because when I looked online there didn't seem to be many images which featured them. One day soon I'll scan some images in from the book, but those below should be enough to give the idea. At least I've now managed to start my collection anyway. It just means that I have less money to put towards the new bathroom for the time being, never mind.

Boulevard Leopold
Having heard stories about how wonderful Mechelen in Belgium is in the run up to Christmas I decided to start looking for beautiful but reasonably priced accommodation (so that I didn't feel too guilty) and in so doing I stumbled upon this guesthouse in Antwerp...called Boulevard Leopold. I am officially in love with this place, ever since I found it I have been daydreaming about the visit I plan to make there in late November early December this year. I might not been going for many more months but I can't wait.. I've included some pictures here for your visual delight.
My favourite hotel
My favourite hotel has to be Chateau Massillan, I can't wait to go back at some point. It really is stunning and the food is out of this world. Here are some of the lovely interiors...
About this blog...
This is a blog about my obsession with beautiful objects and interiors. It's a place where I intend to bring together all of the pictures from my real adventures and trips spent scouring the country for glorious items with which to be-deck my home. It's also a place where I intend to post images from books, daydreams of far flung places and hours spent sourcing the internet for inspirational interiors and places to visit. I thought I'd start by posting some images of my favourite interiors and places that I hope to visit one day, but these posts may well be interspersed with pictures of some of the curiosities I have purchased and the things that I am currently coveting. I hope you enjoy the visual delights as much as I enjoy finding them.
